Heel spur or foot spur is a pointed bony outgrowth from the calcaneal tuberosity (heel bone). It can occur alone or due to some underlying disease/s. Heel spurs are often associated with inflammation of the tendinitis and cause pain or tenderness at the bottom of the heel.
Causes: Calcium deposits build up on the underside of the heel bone, age, gait problems, obesity, improper footwear and standing for long hours
Symptoms: Intermittent or chronic pain in the heel, inflammation, abnormalities of the skin, nerves, bones, blood vessels and injury to the heel
