It’s incredibly daunting to know that you’ve got a lot of weight to lose, and you may fall into the trap of looking on enviously (usually on social media) at others who seem to be quickly and effortlessly losing weight. Reader, mind your own business and focus on yourself. And know that even if you feel like your weight loss is slow going, it’s more than you were doing, and that is something to be celebrated.

All too often we see people give up on their weight loss goals when they’ve hit a blip. I’m sure you know what we’re talking about – having a crisis because you’ve had an unplanned binge, or missed a few too many workouts. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try again.

Oof, bit of a morbid one, but a stark reminder that what we eat really does have a big impact on our lifespans. And you don’t want to speed up your own descent into the cold, hard earth just because you can’t stay away from the deep fat fryer.

Painfully true, this one. Eating junk food until it comes out of your ears is BRILLIANT at the time, we’re not going to lie, but do it often enough and it just makes you feel like shit – sluggish, bloated and tired.

What? We didn’t say these weight loss motivation quotes would all be profound, because this one…well, it’s not. However, it’s some very sage advice. Similar to Nike’s beloved ‘just do it’, when you’re feeling like skipping a workout or having an extra treat meal, or whatever it is you do when you’re just about ready to give up – don’t do it. Just keep going.

“Take it one meal at a time”

Thinking that you’re going to have to eat well all the time forever is overwhelming. But focusing on the here and now makes it a lot more manageable – about to have breakfast? Do your best to make this one meal the healthiest you can. Do the same at lunch, and again at dinner, but stop worrying about that meal out you’ve got planned three months down the line.

This is different for everyone, but everyone has something – that little spark that made you want to take control and start losing weight. It might be wanting to be able to keep up with your kids or to decrease your chances of diseases that run in your family. You might have seen an unflattering picture of yourself or realised that it was getting harder and harder to make it to the top of the stairs without stopping for breath. When you’re struggling, think back to your lightbulb moment.
