Sinuses are hollow air spaces within the bones around the area of the nose. When these sinuses get blocked due to the formation of bacteria, they get inflamed and cause infection and pain. This pain refers to sinusitis. Sinusitis are of four types –
- Acute: This comes with symptoms like pain on various parts of your face, running or congested nose. It starts on its own and does not get cured before 10-15 days.
- Subacute: This inflammation usually lasts from 3-8 weeks.
- Chronic: In this case, the problem might persist from 8-10 weeks, and sometimes even more.
- Recurrent: People suffering with this, experience the attack several times in a year.
Causes: It usually starts with inflammation triggered by cold, allergy attack or irritant. Virus, bacteria, pollutants & fungi are other causes of sinusitis
Symptoms: Facial pain and pressure, blocked nose, nasal discharge, reduced sense of smell, fatigue, congestion, cough & sore throat
