Acute Suppurative Otitis Media (Discharge from ear)

This is one of the most common problems in early childhood – almost 80% of children have at least one episode of (AOM). Acute suppurative otitis media is nothing but inflammation of the middle ear cleft due to bacterial infection.

Causes: Allergies, cold, sinus infection, infected adenoids and cigarette smoke

Symptoms: Crying, irritability, sleeplessness, pulling on the ears, ear pain, headache, neck pain, vomiting and diarrhoea
