Varicose veins occur when the veins become enlarged and twisted. Also known as spider veins, these can be seen just under the skin. They are bluish-purple or red in colour and very painful. This condition is common women, and, in most cases, varicose veins appear on the lower legs. Sometimes, they can lead to serious health problems.
Causes: Venous reflux which can be in pregnancy, obesity, menopause, aging, prolonged standing or leg injury
Symptoms: Veins that are dark purple or blue, veins that appear twisted, a heavy feeling in your legs, itching around one or more vein
