Corns and calluses are thick, hardened layers of skin located on top of a toe or outside the little toe. They mostly form on the feet and can making walking quite painful. However, they are usually self-treatable by wearing proper fitting shoes and protective pads. Avoid high-heel shoes.
Causes:
The weight of the body and constant friction can cause corns. Other sources of pressure and friction include wearing ill-fitting shoes and wearing sandals or shoes without socks.
Symptoms:
A thick, hard patch of skin; bump on the skin; pain or tenderness of the affected area
